Detroit’s international airport, Detroit Metropolitan Airport  (i.e.Metro Airport ), lies just 18 miles west of downtown and is the nation’s 11th busiest airport. Metro Airport has three terminals servicing 20 major airlines as well as a slew of charter, commuter and cargo lines. As a hub, the majority of travelers pass through Northwest Airlines’ $1.6 billion Edward H. McNamara/Northwest WorldGateway Terminal, which offers modern conveniences like international and domestic gates located in one facility, E-ticket kiosks, luggage check-in both in the connected parking deck and curb-side, kids’ play areas, two indoor trams that travel the one-mile length of Concourse A, and a 404-room Westin Hotel connected to terminal.

Detroit is also home to the Coleman A. Young International Airport (formerly Detroit City Airport) and several other small airports serving private, charter and cargo flights.
