You can't help but love the Tigers. It's an old team, a hometown team and a team rich with history and championships. Not to mention the Tigers have one of the coolest logos in baseball-the old-English "D." As a charter member of the American League, Detroit is one of only a few clubs still located in its founding city. The Tiger's first season was in 1901, and they quickly became champions. They won three consecutive American League Pennants from 1907-09, and went on to win championships again in 1935, 1945, 1968 and 1984. These teams included some of the best players in baseball history: Ty Cobb, Charlie Gehringer, Hank Greenberg, Al Kaline and Hal Newhouser, to name a few. Beyond great players, the Tigers have also had great ballparks. Located at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Trumbell, Tiger Stadium was home to the Tigers for 70 years and among the most famous and beloved ballparks in the nation. In 2000, the Tigers moved to a new home: Comerica Park. Ranked among the most family friendly new stadiums in the nation, Comerica Park is the modern version of an old-fashioned baseball stadium. And that's a good thing. Although this park features a merry-go-round, a Ferris wheel, fountains and beer halls, it also focuses first and foremost on the ballgame. There's even a gated section where fans can watch from the street. Still, the best way to catch the Tigers is from inside the stadium on a sunny afternoon with a cold beer and a bag of peanuts.
