The "Bad Boys" of basketball, the Pistons rolled into Detroit in 1957 from Ft. Wayne, Indiana, but the championships limped far behind. In fact, it wasn't until the late 1980s that the Pistons found a way to win and win big. Taking on a more aggressive game style that earned them the name "Bad Boys," the Pistons won back-to-back championship titles in 1989 and 1990. The team went on to win again in 2004. Over the years, this championship team has been filled with great talent. This includes Dave Bing, Dave DeBusschere, Bob Lanier, Joe Dumars and Isaiah Thomas. The team has also had awesome coaches. Chuck Daly took the team to two championships and numerous division wins. Larry Brown did much of the same. The Pistons are currently coached by Flip Saunders. The Piston's home is at the Palace of Auburn Hills, about 40 minutes north of Detroit. Built in 1988, the Palace is the largest arena in the NBA, contributing to their record for the highest fan attendance in the league. And the fans do come. You can regularly catch Detroit natives like Eminem, Kid Rock, Aretha Franklin and Bob Seger at the Palace, along with thousands of other Detroiters, cheering on these bad boys to another championship season.
